 
Astarte is the name the Greeks gave to the Semitic Goddess Ashtart, the Canaanite Great Goddess. She has roots in Inanna of the Sumerians and Ishtar of the Babylonians; She is a Goddess of love, the heavens, fertility, and war. She is associated with serpents, lions, and acacia and cypress trees; the Tree of Life is Hers. I've shown Her here nude but for jewelry, cupping Her breasts in a particularly Phoenician form.
