Juno Conciliatrix is an aspect of Juno Who reconciles married couples after they have argued. Conciliatrix means ‘liaison’, ‘match maker’, or ‘go-between’. The related Latin word conciliatio has meanings of ‘attraction’, ‘union’, ‘acceptance’, and ‘winning over’. She is closely similar to the Goddess Viriplaca, Who can also be considered an aspect of Juno.

As Juno and Jupiter were the Queen and King of the Roman Gods, They were held as the archetypal couple, and considered to both be Deities of marriage. Not that their marriage was much better than the infamously bad one of their Greek counterparts, Hera and Zeus: Jupiter and Juno quite famously fought on opposite sides during the Punic Wars, when Rome and Carthage were hell bent on destroying each other. Jupiter (in the legend) took the side of Rome, while Juno favored Carthage, perhaps because their Great Goddess the Dea Caelestis, also known as Tanit, was equated with Juno.

Either way of course eventually Rome won that war; Carthage was destroyed, and Jupiter was victorious. Juno was brought back around by being promised She would be much honored in Rome, as She too (like Venus) was a Divine ancestress of that city, through Her son Mars, and His son Romulus, the founder of Rome.

I think it is important to note that Juno was only able to be reconciled with Her husband once Her own power, her standing, and connection to the city were acknowledged and honored.

In modern terms, Juno Conciliatrix might be considered the Goddess of couples therapy or marriage counseling.
