This card is one of four from a Tarot deck I started when I was in Art School. The other cards from this set are The Star, The Moon and the Two of Swords. I abandoned it when I changed my style of painting--this style, though pretty, is just a little too hyper-involved for me now. It involves drawing the artwork perfectly, transferring the artwork perfectly, then painting (in several layers) the artwork perfectly. Aside from the fact that the detail means I was holding my breath while painting (I am not making that up), it's very hard to get the spirit of something when it's drawn over and over again.
This Emperor was inspired by Cernunnos, the Continental Celtic Lord of Animals.
This design available on a myriad of products such as journals, t-shirts, tote bags, framed prints, posters and more over at the Cat and Cauldron.
